Features & Benefits
The table below gives you brief outline of major AMUST Registry Cleaner features and explains what exactly benefits they bring you.
| Product feature |
How you benefit using it |
| SmartScanTM
Scans and repairs the registry based on knowledge.
SmartScan does the job the proper way - if it is not sure about the registry record it doesn't discard it but works to find out if the record is valid and important. |
Eliminates the risk of something important being erased and results in a healthy registry, with less errors and better computer performance. |
| IntelliCompactTM
Reduces the registry size and defragments it by removing the holes and empty spaces in the registry tree. |
Similarly to the defragmentation of files, compacting the registry removes holes and fragments causing your computer to run smoother and faster.
Provides for top notch system performance. |
Embedded-null registry keys
Detect and clean non-removable, aka Embedded-null registry keys |
These keys can’t be detected and removed by standard registry-editing tools. These non-removable registry keys are used by most rootkits and other malware to store malicious code. In addition, some software vendors use the embedded-null registry key technique as a way to enforce the software license agreement and to reduce the ability for users to tamper with the license information stored in these registry keys. |
| Undo
Lets you rollback any change made to registry during repair. |
When you repair the registry, you may occasionally delete or change something that negatively impacts system operation. With the undo feature you can rollback any change without affecting other parts of the registry. |
| Intuitive Interface
Built with clear design and usability in mind, the user interface provides the highest level of program function availability to users of any experience level. |
You don't need to spend a lot of time digging through all program features when you need an immediate result. All the options are at your finger tips for total control of your registry condition. Advanced features are available for sophisticated users as well. |
| "Set and Forget"
Schedule registry maintenance tasks. |
Schedule registry scan, fix, backup and compact, and eliminate the routine in registry maintenance. Select the most convenient time and AMUST Registry Cleaner will do the rest. |
The Windows registry is a hierarchical database that contains
information about the operating system, its components, application programs,
and users.
If you look at the registry structure, you can see a tree
consisting of nested containers: keys, and subkeys. These are like folders. The
data itself is kept in the registry entries, which are like files. Each entry
includes a name, a data type defining the format of data that the entry can
store, and a value where the data is stored.
A group of keys, subkeys, and values comprise a registry hive.
For example, data related to the currently logged on user profile is contained
in the corresponding hive (under HKEY_CURRENT_USER).
The registry is important because it stores vital information
about your Windows system and its configuration, as well as info about all
application programs installed on your computer.
Whenever you add and remove software, change your settings,
add new devices, or upgrade your system, your registry is changed. For example,
when you install a new printer, information about this device is written to the
corresponding part of the registry. If this data is then somehow corrupted, you
will not be able to work with the printer.
The truth is that usual daily work of your Windows computer
results in numerous registry keys and files being changed in the Windows
registry. Many of these entries become obsolete or inaccurate, impairing your
systems ability to run smoothly. Even if you properly uninstall a program, it
still might leave a few keys and values in the registry. All this litter
accumulates over time, causing your computer to slow down, stumbling over
missing .exe or .dll files and other hitches. Finally, it stops running.
When information is removed from registry, just like if it was
a file system some empty space is left between data portions. This empty space
leads to poor performance, because the system and applications need to browse
through wasted space in search for data. That is why the registry has to not
only be cleaned, but also compacted.
Whatever registry maintenance software you are going to use,
consider the following recommendations:
- Regularly scan and clean your registry to avoid the
obsolete and inaccurate information remaining there for a long time, producing
a negative impact on your system.
- Registry backup should be performed daily, and before
software and hardware changes (installation, un-installation, or upgrade).
Always back up your registry before cleanup.
- Extremely strong care should be exercised during cleanup.
Always pay attention to the severity of each error found. Do not make changes
if you are not sure about them.
- A registry maintenance tool should be flexible enough to
provide not only bulk backup and cleanup, but also selective undo, since it is
not always possible to predict how this or that change will affect application
operation.
- Consider compacting your registry after cleanup. Generally,
scan, cleanup and then compact should be performed weekly, as well as after
software or hardware changes.
- Remember that registry compact must be carried out just
before system shutdown or restart, otherwise the system restores registry to
original state, and compact fails.
- Many registry maintenance tools use so-called Deep Scan, or
heuristics analysis which, for example, may treat the peculiarities of your
configuration as errors. As a result, these issues are removed, and you lose
essential information. We offer you efficient and small-footprint Smart Scan
based on high-level expertise and knowledge.
- A registry maintenance tool should be flexible enough to
provide not only bulk backup and cleanup, but also selective undo, since it is
not always possible to predict how this or that change will affect application
operation.
- It is recommended that you use the software tool that is
aware of when exactly the compacting process should take place.
- User interface must be light, intuitive and provide
friendly operation for all users, regardless of their experience level.
- Quality registry solution should be developed in accordance
with industry standards, and possess certain maturity grade.
